Three Things Thursday - Products Worth Trying

I'm always interested to hear what friends think about products they use, so I thought I'd share a few of my own this week....

Milk: It does a body good.  Right?  That's what the ads say, anyway.  Truth is, there's a lot of discussion about whether cow's milk is 'the best' for our human bodies, or even necessary, but what I do know is that I like milk, especially when it's creamy and sweet.  Oh, what a treat!  But with creamy and sweet, comes fat, right? Well, after toying with the idea of switching to the (more expensive) organic variety for several months, I found a coupon online, and decided to give it a try.  Wow! As a 1% low-fat milk drinker for many years, what a treat it was to find that the Organic Valley low-fat 1% milk is creamier and sweeter than my store brand, but just as low in fat.  Perfect!  I also switched to their coffee creamer, an equally tasty product.  'Clean eating' at its best. Pros: taste, texture, and environmentally responsible  Cons (only one for me):  cost  Grab a coupon and give it a try.

Next on my list: Agave nectar, a natural sweetener most often associated with tequila.  For those who follow Eating Good Stuff, you may remember this was one of the suspected culprits in the not-so-wonderful black bean brownie recipe recently.  The black beans were never the issue (though they seemed exotic for a brownie recipe).  Instead, it was the Agave that just didn't work for me. For beverages though, I use it regularly.  Available in various purity levels and colors, and with the consistency of honey, if  you are looking for an alternative to refined sugar, you might like this product.  I personally use the Madhava brand, because it's readily available in our local grocery store, but a quick online search will reflect several other brands.  Tip: You might want to do some online research before you head out to shop since there are several price points.

The last item on the list today is Murray's chicken, reported on their website to be family farmed and naturally raised.  Yes, I am practicing a vegetarian lifestyle these days, so I'm not eating this product, but The Hubby is not practicing this meatless choice (except on Meatless Mondays), so I still purchase and prepare it for him a few nights a week.  It's definitely a little more expensive but as a recent EGS friend commented, "Spending more on organic products and knowing what my children are eating is healthier and hormone-free makes it worth it."  Bravo!  I couldn't agree more, especially since HER children are MY nephews and niece (see pics on sidebar... the little rascals are awesome, all of them, from both of my sisters!).

Have a favorite product you'd like to recommend?  Would love to hear from you!  :)

Happy eating and cooking, friends!
